Begin by running the License Wizard. On Windows 7 / Vista / XP, click Start Menu » All Programs » IDL 8.4» Tools » License Wizard. On Windows 8, click Start Screen » All Apps » License Wizard. Alternatively, the License Wizard application can be found in the Exelis installation directory(by default, the installation directory is C:\Program Files\Exelis\).

By default, the "Activate a license using the internet" option is selected when the License Wizard opens. Use this option if you do not already have the license file that you wish to install(see the To activate your license using the Internet section for further instructions regarding this option).

The below steps will walk you through installing the license file once you obtain it:

  1. After receiving your license file via email, save the *.lic or *.dat license file attachment to your hard drive.
  2. In the License Wizard, select the "Install a license you have received" option and click next.
  3. Select "Browse to import license file..."
  4. Browse to the location where you saved the *.lic or *.dat file, select the file, and click "Open".
    For Server-based/Floating Licenses ONLY:
If this is the first time that you have installed a server-based license on this machine, you will be prompted to "Install license manager service" and "Launch lmtools utility to manage service". Make sure both are checked, and click Next.
  5. Click Finish.
Do you need to configure a client machine to fetch a license from a license server machine?

  2. Insert the HASP dongle into any USB port(or parallel port if you're using a parrallel port dongle). The arrows on the HASP should point toward the back of the computer.

  8. Click Finish.

NOTE
If the hardware dongle is removed during a software session or if you start your software without the hardware key attached, the software enters seven-minute demonstration mode, and you will not be able to save your work.
